Ellen Elizabeth Yoder, 95 of Albany, passed away in her room at Quail Run Assisted Living. She was born to Andrew and Mary Ann (Gingerich) Yoder on the family farm outside of Kalona, IA.
She married John E. Yoder on August 4, 1951 in Sarasota, FL. John and Ellen lived most of their married life in Goshen, IN until they moved to Albany in 1988 to be near their daughter and family. Most of her work outside her home was cleaning houses in Sarasota, FL, Iowa City, IA, and Goshen, IN. She also worked for several years at Reif's Department Store in Kalona, IA and also at Greencroft Retirement Center in Goshen, IN.
Ellen loved her family very much and enjoyed sharing her life experiences with them. She was a member of Albany Mennonite Church, and also enjoyed worshiping at the Mennonite Village Chapel.
She is survived by her daughter Mary and husband Cal Leichty of Albany; 4 grandchildren: Matthew (Valonda) of Salem, Andrew (Meredith) of Portland, Melissa (John) of Hayden, ID, and Kristen of Albany; and 7 great grandchildren: Hannah, Noah, Jackson, Annika, Preston, Bryton, and Archer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents; and one sister, Bernice Foss.
A viewing is scheduled at AAsum-Dufour from 3-6 pm on March 27, and a private graveside service will be at Fairview Mennonite cemetery. A memorial service will be at Albany Mennonite Church (3405 Kizer Ave. NE) on Sunday, April 8 at 2 pm.
