Letha May Turkovich

Letha May (Thomas) Turkovich passed away on May 16, 2017 at the Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House, Albany, OR., with her family by her side.
She was born in Decatur County, Kansas; the fourth daughter of Johnnie H. Thomas and Susie M. (Seeman) Thomas. She attended Rising Sun grade school, a little country school in Willow County, Nebraska. She loved living on the farm; all the animals, dancing and freedom. Letha graduated from Danbury High School, Danbury, NE. in 1941.
Letha moved to McCook, NE to train as a Nurse's Aide at St. Catherine's Hospital. She loved her work at the hospital, but after one year her sister needed her help with her new baby in Richmond, CA. She found work at Richmond Hospital where she met her husband-to-be, an X-ray technician named Wallace Turkovich.  They were married in Richmond, CA on August 14, 1943.  They had 3 children; Susan Riseman, Dennis Turkovich, and Tim Turkovich.
Letha enjoyed yard work, gardening, flowers, reading to her children, and playing games.  Above all of this, she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. 
Letha is preceded in death by her parents; sisters Bessie, Viola, June; and son Tim.
She is survived by her children Dennis and Karen Turkovich, Susan and Ron Riseman; grandchildren Cynthia, Kim, Angela, Kevin, Darlene; and 6 great-grandchildren.
