T. Loreta Parrett
November 3, 1927 - January 12, 2018
Loreta Parrett 90 of Lebanon, went home to the Lord on Friday.
She was born Thelma Loreta to V.M. "Toby" and Nettie (Bolderson) Hopkins in Hominy, OK. The economy caused them to relocate to southern California in the area of Lakeside where Loreta attended school and met and married Robert D. "Red" Parrett.  They were known to friends and family as Bob and Loreta as they moved up into the Willamette Valley and built their lives.  She had a daughter Bonnie at age 19.  She worked part time but mostly just raising her young daughter.  Then at age 31, she gave birth to her son Ronald.  Continuing as a homemaker and mother, she loved cooking, sewing, and providing a loving Christian home for her family.
At age 60 Loreta earned her GED.  She then became a mentor to a special needs lady and accepted a position assistant teaching english as a second language to Vietnamese immegrants.  This was one of her favorite jobs even though she did not speak the language.
Loreta was a faithful Christian and loved studying the Bible.  She encouraged her children lovingly in her faith and all who spent time with her knew she was a true follower of Christ.  She was an active member of Christ Community Lutheran Church in Lebanon and will be missed by friends and family.
Loreta is survived by daughter Bonnie and her husband Larry Borter; son Ron and his wife Diane; grandsons Scott Kleinschmit and Kristian Borter both of Scio, Michael Sutton and Jason Sutton of Eugene; granddaughters Madisen and her husband Paul Contreras of San Diego, CA., Amanda Whitt (Hickman) of Albany;  great grandsons Damien Sutton, Dylan Borter and Zachary Marston; great granddaughters Alauna Sutton and Samantha Marston.  She is also survived by sister-in-law Mildred Galloway and many nieces and nephews she loved so very much.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and loving husband Bob of 63 years.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Christ Community Lutheran Church in Lebanon.  The family asks that instead of sending flowers you plant something of your own.  Memorial contributions may be made to The Gideons or Safe Haven and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
