Beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, Carol Lee Dyott, died at the age of 78 on September 22, 2014 at Evergreen Hospice House. She had lived the last 17 months with her family in Albany and her last days in Evergreen Hospice House.
She was born in New York City on June 4, 1936 to Evelyn Ashmeade and Howard Geoffrey Dupont. She was blessed with a younger brother, 4 years later. She grew up in Long Island, New York, studying music diligently from the time she was a young girl. She also took an interest in art which would later be the passion of her life. After she graduated from high school she worked for the Crayola Crayon Co. in Rockefeller Plaza before beginning secretarial school. She loved working in the city and enjoyed the many jazz venues and art studios. She married her high school sweetheart, Michael Stephens Dyott, on 9-7-57 whom she divorced in 1982. She later met and fell in love with Neil Jaeckal whom she would make many wonderful memories. She had two children, Evelyn Cheryl Dyott and Geoffrey Gallatin Dyott. They moved from New York to Hollywood California in 1959 and later moved to Palmdale, California, where she would remain until she moved to Florida in 1991.
She worked as the executive assistant to the Mayor of Palmdale for over a decade before she left that job to become a liaison between North American Rockwell and the Aerospace Union. She later retired from that job before moving to Florida. She then spent all her energies enjoying the sun and sand of Florida, painting, reading, and enjoying the time with her soul-mate and partner, Neil Jaeckal, before she finally moved to Albany in 2013.
As her family, we appreciated her support and encouragement and her selfless way of putting others needs before her own. She had a witty personality and great sense of humor which remained till the end. Her belief in the need for equality and social justice was more than a philosophy. She often gave to those less fortunate with both her time and money.
Carol is survived by son, Geoffrey, and daughter, Evelyn "Eve"; her brother, Howard, her 4 grandchildren, and the many people who were 'CHOSEN' family; Jill and Joy Jaeckal and Nancy Jaeckal Holleran. She was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Albany Helping Hands in care of AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home.
