Gayla Cleo Whitley, 55, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 8. Family and friends mourn her with heavy hearts.
She was born in Torrance, Calif., to Harry and Jacqueline Whitley. She was born and raised in California, and moved to Albany in 2001.
She worked at the Chevron Refinery until a work-related injury caused retirement for disability in 1998.
Gayla is survived by her mother, Jacqueline K. Whitley; twin sister Kayla M. Herndon; sister Valorie C. Aragon; brothers Harry M. Whitley Jr. and Stuart D. Whitley; stepbrother Robert B. Guerrero; aunt Jeraldine M. Mulkey; uncle Jerry T. Whitley; and many other family members including many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harry M. Whitley Sr. in 1967.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Albany.
