Norvene Miller

Norvene Miller 94 of Albany, passed away on Sunday, at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center.

Norvene was born in Shickley, NE to John and Lydia (Danner) Roth . She graduated from Milford High School in 1940. Norvene accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior when she was 13. She was baptized at East Fairview Mennonite Church, Milford, NE.

On August 11, 1946 she married Kermit Miller in Milford. The couple honeymooned in Western Nebraska working in potato fields.

Norvene and Kermit moved to Albany in the summer of 1966 and then to Lebanon in 1972. In 1992 they moved to Corvallis where Norvene spent 17 years selling her baked goods at the Saturday market. She was known for her cinnamon rolls and pies. Norvene also worked at Fairview Mennonite Church for 14 years as a janitor.

Norvene was a member of Fairview Mennonite Church. She was also a Sunday school teacher, involved in women's ministry, sewing circle, bible study and sang with her husband at weddings and funerals. She also enjoyed gardening, flowers, especially roses and dahlias, sewing quilts, mending jeans and socks and cooking at camps.


Norvene is survived by children Doug and wife Carol Miller of Lebanon, Rose and husband Delvin King of Lebanon, Cletus and wife Jody Miller of Lebanon, Donna and Dave Robinson of Lebanon and Mark and wife Julie Miller of Corvallis; 16 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; brother Auris Roth of Milford, NE; and sisters Marcielle Friesen of Milford, NE and Erna Bachman of Goshen, IN. She was preceded in death by her husband Kermit; grandson Joel King; brother Curtis Roth; and son in law John Kauffman.

A funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1 at Fairview Mennonite Church with a graveside to follow at Fairview Mennonite Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fairview Ladies sewing circle in care of the funeral home.
