"Super Duper" Ruby Marie Glendenning
Sept. 1, 1921 -- July 22, 2014
Ruby was born to Emil and Lena (Stutzman) Burkey in Thurman, Colorado. She was ushered into heaven peacefully into the arms of Jesus with her family around her.
She moved to Oregon in 1946 with her family. She owned and operated a restaurant , managed the Queen Street Laundry mat, and retired from housekeeping at the Mennonite Village.
Ruby volunteered at the MCC Et Cetera shop in Lebanon. She attended Plainview Mennonite Church and more recently, Albany First Assembly. She was a prayer warrior and a Godly example to all who knew her. She loved to knit, make Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls, cook and bake. Her favorite pastime was being with her family.
She had 22 nieces and nephews. She is survived by her daughters, Linda and husband Emerson Smoker Sr. of Albany, and Hazel and husband John Schroeder of Lebanon; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and five sisters.
A viewing will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 27, at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home, and a graveside service for family and friends will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 28, at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens.
