David Paul Newman Tribute

David Paul Newman

August 27, 1944 – April 8, 2024

David Newman, 79 of Albany, OR, passed away on Monday, at Regent Court in Corvallis.

Dave was born in Syracuse, NY, to Ralph and Elizabeth (Rannings) Newman.  He grew up in Syracuse, NY until the age of 12.  He then moved to Lebanon, OR, and graduated from Lebanon  High School.

In his early career he worked for several years for the Linn County Fire Patrol in Sweet Home.  He married the love of his life, Jeanette Vonsild on August 19, 1966. In the late 1970’s he then went to work for a brief period at Teledyne Wah Chang, before finally settling in to work for the Albany Willamette Paper Mill.  Whenever he had any free time, you would most likely find him fishing or working in his woodshop.  Upon his retirement, he and Jeanette moved to Mountain Home, ID in 2007 where they were very active with the local food pantry and their church.  In 2020 they moved back to Albany to be closer to their family.

Dave is survived by his wife, Jeanette Newman, of 57 years; daughters Sandy (Russ) Hershfelt and Debbie (Mike) Beaumont; brother Jack Newman; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside service will be at 10 am on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 100F Cemetery in Lebanon.
