John A. Carsner, 75, of Albany, Oregon, passed away on March 25, 2024, at Oregon Veterans’ Home in Lebanon, Oregon with family by his side. He was born in McMinnville, Oregon on June 16, 1948, the son of Harold and Josephine Carsner. John graduated from Redmond High School, in Redmond, Washington, class of 1966 and from Chemeketa Community College in Salem, Oregon, class of 1974, with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Mechanical Drafting. John served as a sergeant in the United States Army in Vietnam. from 1968 – 1970.
John was a good, good man and a quiet one. He is survived by his wife Donna (Potter) Carsner; sons Michael and his wife Stephany; and Richard and his partner James; grandsons Spencer and Jonah; granddaughters Stephanie, Emilee, and Amaya; great-grandchildren Allison and Cayden; nephew Larry Yeaman; and nieces Diana Erspamer, Carol Gruber, Dorene Boyle and Renee Anderson.
John was preceded in death by his brother Walt Anderson; nephew Mark Anderson; sister Betty Cook; and son Christopher John Carsner.
Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 5 at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home in Albany. Burial will take place at 1 pm at Restlawn Memory Gardens, near Salem. Contributions may be made to the VFW Post 584 in Albany, Oregon or to the organization of your choice.
