Dennis G. Bousquet

December 15, 1939 – September 1, 2017

Dennis George Bousquet passed away on Friday, September 1, 2017 at his home in Albany, OR surrounded by love from his wife Lois, and children Denise Garvin, Michelle Goldsberry, Scott Sherfield and Tina Elkins.  His family was his joy and included eight grandchildren and five great-grands.

Dennis was born in Los Angeles to George and Flore Bousquet.  He grew up in Chico, California and then spent his adult life in the Roseville, California area.  It was there that he met and married Lois Jean, his true love and partner for thirty-six years.  He was a kind and devoted husband, loving and supportive father, trusted brother and friend.  Dennis is preceded in death by a son, Richard, and three siblings: Jackie, Joan and Michael.

After high school, Dennis joined the US Marine Corps and attended Radio Telegraph School.  That led him to a life-long career as a train dispatcher; first with SP Railroad in Roseville, CA and in 1993 with the original startup crew of the W&P Railroad in Albany, OR.  He also trained and qualified as a train engineer so he could get out with the train crews occasionally.

After his retirement in 2000, Dennis returned to his favorite open-air pastime, motorcycling.  He was known for the meticulous care of his bike.  He was a member of the Retreads Motorcycle Club of Eugene and the National AMA.  He was also a natural with anything mechanical and was fearless with home projects.  His garage was his “man-cave”.

Donations in his honor may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, the Sarcoma Foundation, or to the victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

Private inurnment will be in Glen Oaks Cemetery in Chico, CA.
