Eldon Moyer passed away on Memorial Day, May 28, 2018 in Corvallis, OR, at the ripe old age of 98.  He always appreciated a good joke and was known for his quick smile and quiet belly laugh.

He was born in Monticello, Illinois to Charles F Moyer and Olive Madden Moyer, and was raised on a farm with 4 brothers and1 sister.  In his early 20s, he enlisted in the army and fought in WWII in the European and African Theatres.  After discharge he eventually moved to Los Angeles and started working for Hughes Aircraft Company where he met and subsequently married his sweetheart, Bette, in 1974. 

They both retired in 1975 and started their long and happy retirement. They made their home base in Grayeagle, California in a house that Eldon built, then moved  to Willits, California.  They traveled extensively in their trailer throughout Mexico and the Western U.S.  They then moved to Corvallis, Oregon in 1998 to be close to their daughter.

Eldon loved traveling, fishing, golf and gardening, but he especially loved doting on his grandchildren,  They could do no wrong in his eyes.  We’ll all miss his sweet, kind and giving nature.  He was one of a kind.

He is preceded in death by his wife Bette; parents; and 4 brothers.  He is survived by his sister Eileen Gunther; children Katie (Terry) Barker, Jeff (Donna) Gompert; grandchildren Mallory, Tara, Kelsy, Zach, Jess and Meg; and 3 great-grandchildren Chloe, Henry and Riley.

A private military interment will be held at Oak Lawn Cemetery. AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home is handling the arrangements (www.aasum-dufour.com).
