Hallie Slayter Sr. passed away on Monday, May 15, 2017 at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis.
Hallie was born in French Camp, California, to Homer and Mary Slayter. He grew up in Stockton, California, and married his wife of 57 years, Ada (Patton) Slayter on December 7, 1959.
They moved to Oregon in 1963, and have lived in Albany since 1965, raising their three children: Tammy, Hallie Jr., and Glen.
Hallie worked for Stone Forest from 1966 to 1996 and for Wah Chang from 1996 to 2006.
Hallie loved the outdoors, hunting and camping with family and friends. He was an avid bowler, competing on leagues since the 1960s.
He particularly loved the Beavers, old western movies, jigsaw puzzles and playing cards. But the thing he loved most was his family - his children, their spouses, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Hallie is survived by his wife, Ada; children Tammy and Mike Stone, Hallie Jr. and Juli Slayter, Glen and Ann Slayter, honorary daughter Gail Winden; grandchildren: Sara and Bobby Stravers, Bryan and Kristin Stone, Casey and Cassidy Stone, Cassie and Evan Winnett, Shelbi, Lexia, Kaitlyn, and Logan Slayter; and great-grandchildren: Emma, Jacob and Camden Stone.
He was preceded in death by one great-grandchild, Henry Alan Stone.
All are invited to join the family for a public graveside service honoring Hallie at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Willamette Memorial Park as well for a time of celebration immediately following at Harvest Baptist Church, 2660 Marion Street SE, Albany.
