Irma Blackburn Tribute

Irma Rose Blackburn

November 5, 1921- January 30, 2018

Irma passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Samaritan Evergreen Hospice in Albany, Oregon

Irma was the only child born to Werner and Mary Diederichsen.  She attended schools there and graduated high school from Immaculate Conception Academy in San Francisco, California.  After graduating she began working in the financial district of San Francisco as a secretary.

On February 9, 1944 she married the love of her life, James E. Blackburn and they enjoyed 57 years together.  They moved to Burlingame, California after Jim's career in the Navy and had three children.  Her parents lived only a block away and were an integral part of their family.

After Jim retired as a journeyman electrician they moved to Bend, Oregon to be closer to their children and grandchildren. They enjoyed 25 wonderful years there involved in many volunteer organizations and their church, St Charles.

After Jim's death, Irma moved to the Mennonite Village in Albany and enjoyed volunteering for FISH and Evergreen Hospice.  She had spent a full life of travel, close family ties and volunteering.

She loved gardening, walking her dogs and spending time with friends. She was a lover of people but most importantly, she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and spoke about how she was ready to be with Him in heaven.  She had a keen sense of humor and will be remembered by family and friends for her light-hearted personality.

Irma is preceded in death by her parents; Mary and Werner Diederichsen; her husband Jim; her son Jeff; and her grandson Jed Lyons.

Irma is survived by her daughters Claudia Fallon (husband Bernard), Christine Weintraub (husband Steve), granddaughter Rachael Miller (husband Kamron), grandson Andrew Weintraub (wife Adriana), grandson Jonathan Stone (wife Amanda), grandson Ben Weintraub (wife Pauline) and four great grandchildren Kaitlan Miller, Sophia Rose Miller Elijah Miller and Makayla Weintraub.

Donations can be made to Samaritan Hospice in Albany, Oregon.
