She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior in her youth and was faithful to her commitment throughout her life. She was a lifelong member of Fairview Mennonite Church.

Lorene attended Tennessee Grade School near Lebanon, where she completed her education through the eighth grade. She lived in the Albany/Lebanon area nearly all her life.

Her nephew and family, Larry and Doris Neuschwander, provided a home and faithfully cared for her the last 14 years. She passed away at their home at age 96.

She worked at the Mennonite Home for many years, starting in the laundry and then as a nurse aid helping to care for the residents there. Though she was small in stature, she was able to care for those much larger than herself.

She was a very quiet soft spoken person. She was a hard worker, very faithful, and diligent, always putting others needs above her own.

For several years after her retirement from the Mennonite Home, she worked part time in adult foster care centers.
She did not learn to drive until she was 40 years old. Friends benefitted from her willingness to provide transportation for doctor appoints, etc.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Mary Neuschwander; three brothers, Paul, Vernon, and Ira; and a sister Velma Kropf.

She is survived by two nieces and nine nephews, as well as many grand-nieces and nephews.

There will be a viewing from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, January 4 at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home. There will be a private burial at Fairview Mennonite Cemetery.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 5 at Fairview Mennonite Church.
