Marie Anne Covino, 95, of Albany, Oregon, formerly of Dundalk, MD, passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2019.
Marie was born on July 14, 1923, in Baltimore, MD, the oldest daughter of Joseph John and Frances Rose (Kozlowski) Romecki. She lived through the Great Depression, World War II, and all the good and bad times that followed. She graduated from Sacred Heart of Mary Elementary School in Dundalk, MD and worked as a Rosie-the-Riveter at Eastern Aircraft in Baltimore, MD during World War II. On October 28, 1945, she married Bernard “Ben” Samuel Covino, Sr. of Boston, MA soon after he was honorably discharged from wartime Naval Service.
Marie was a devoted Wife and Mother and cared deeply for her children, grandchildren, sister, brothers, and their families. She lived in Baltimore for her first 83 years before moving to live with her son and his family in Albany, OR in 2006.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers Edward, Joseph, John, and Francis Romecki, her daughter, Diane Covino, her Sisters-by-Law Delma (Hiltner), Helen (Moody) and Jeanne (Reibel) Romecki, and her Brother-by-Law James Wiedermann.
She is survived by her younger sister, Irene (Romecki) Wiedermann and her family in Baltimore, MD; by her son Bernard S. (Jr.) and Martha Covino; by her grandson Jeremy Covino of Albany, OR; by her granddaughter Katie (Covino) and Chad Lolley and her great-grandchildren Samantha and Brice Lolley, all of Salem, OR; by her son Anthony Covino Sr. and granddaughter Sarah Covino of Baltimore, MD; by her grandson Anthony Covino Jr. and great-grandson Garrett Covino of Baltimore, MD; and by her daughter Irene (Covino) Block and granddaughter Dawn Block of Baltimore, MD.
Services will be held Thursday, January 17, 2019, at 11 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Albany, OR and her final resting place will be next to her husband Ben at Sacred Heart of Mary Cemetery in Baltimore, MD.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her name to St Mary’s Catholic Church in Albany, OR.
