Mildred Louise Olson passed into eternity on June 16, 2018 after a decades’ long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Mildred was born on September 17, 1940; the only daughter of Herbert Ray Pond Sr. and Hazel Mildred (Whiteis) Pond. She was born in Corvallis and spent the majority of her childhood in Alsea. She later moved to Lebanon with her family for her senior year of high school. She graduated from Lebanon Union High School in June of 1959.
Mildred’s greatest passions in her life were her pets (dogs, cats, and rabbits), her garden (flowers of every kind in her house and outside – especially roses), country western music, and her grandchildren. She also cherished the memories of her trip to Hawaii to celebrate her grandson’s first birthday. She had an entire photo album dedicated to that trip.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her infant brother, Herbert Ray Pond Jr; her husband, Donald Henry Olson; and her in-laws, Olaf and Edna Olson.
She is survived by her children, Carole Lynne Jolly and husband Karl of Florida, and son, Lloyd Olson and wife Susan of Albany; her much loved grandchildren, Dwyn Elysse Jolly of Virginia, Devon Ralph Jolly of Florida, Dyan Celeste Jolly of California and Dasha Noelle Jolly of Pennsylvania.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Willamette Memorial Park.
Please give your mom a hug and tell her you love her, plant a rose, or donate to your local Alzheimer’s Association.
