Parnell O. Person

Parnell O. Person passed away on December 6, 2018, in Bend, Oregon.

Parnell was born in Woonsocket, South Dakota to Bror Oskar and Nellie Person.  The family moved to Jefferson, OR in 1936 where Parnell grew up and attended school.

During his working life, Parnell was a sawmill worker and spent many years pulling green chain.  However, he was most well-known for his years as a barber.  Parnell was a barber for 51 years and spent 49 of those years at the shop he owned in Albany on Second Street. 

Parnell was married to Margie Person for many years before she passed away on April 25, 1999.

He was a long-time and active member of the Albany Seventh Day Adventist church.

Parnell enjoyed many hobbies including woodworking, long walks around the loop and helping out with his church.  He loved the outdoors and spent a lot of free time gardening, mountain climbing with the grandkids, trips to the coast, and bike riding. 

He also loved all kinds of animals.  Parnell had a special connection with his daughter’s dogs (Pepper, Amber, Champ and New Benny).  He would often claim them as his own and gave them so much love.

One of Parnell’s biggest loves was the Lord.  He loved ministering for God any chance he got; whether while he was giving a haircut or doing a project at his church.  Everyone who knew Parnell was aware of his love for God.

Parnell is preceded in death by his wife Margie and his parents Bror and Nellie.

He is survived by his sons Kenneth (wife Joy), David (wife Cindy) and Gerald; daughter Jeanne Person Kimble; grandchildren Laurin Von Krueger (husband Kris), James Kimble Jr. (wife Michelle), Jennifer Kimble (husband Chris), and Jessy Person (wife Kimberly); and 7 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will take place on Sunday, February 10, 2019, at the Albany Senior Center at 2:00 PM with a reception to follow.  Please bring your favorite dessert to share.
