Rich was one of the original participants in the mat yoga class at Mennonite Village. Although it was clear from the beginning that he was an advanced student he was always encouraging to newcomers and curious to learn more about the evolving trends in yoga practice. He was a caring person who was interested in his fellow yogis and in social justice on a broader scale. Last time I saw him he was doing a headstand in lotus position and that is how I will remember him fondly. He is missed by all of us.

I looked forward to seeing Rich each Thursday at the LiveWell Yoga studio. He would set his mat down in the front left corner and do headstands in his warm-ups before class. I enjoyed getting to know him in brief exchanges before and after class, appreciating his sense of humor and his humane and compassionate values. He wore a Bernie Sanders t-shirt during the campaign.
Rich elevated the yoga experience for all who practiced in the room with him. We dearly miss Rich, but his presence lingers in the studio.
