William S. Davis
March 22, 1927 — February 24, 2018
William Sim Davis passed away on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018 at his home at Quail Run in Albany.
Bill was born in Charleston, South Carolina. He moved to Laramie, Wyoming as a young child with his parents Ollie Ricks Davis and William Davis.
He was a brakeman for Union Pacific Railroad in Wyoming.
Bill served in World War II in the Asiatic Pacific on the U.S.S. U.S. Grant and the U.S.S. San Jacinto. He was awarded the Victory Medal.
Bill moved his family to Albany in 1963, where he went to work as a recovery boiler operator at Western Kraft paper mill.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albany.
Bill and his wife Ida enjoyed many years wintering in Arizona after Bill’s retirement.
Bill is preceded in death by Ida his wife of 58 years of marriage.
Bill is survived by children, John Hanby, David Allgeier, Dan Davis, Darlene Felgentraeger and Doug Davis; twelve grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 19 at St. Mary's Church in Albany.
