Agnes Lillian SamekMarch 3, 1919 - March 1, 2008Agnes Lillian Samek, 88, of Albany passed away Saturday at her home.She was born on the family farm near New Hradec, N.D., one of ten children. She was the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Pavlicek) Rambousek. She was raised on the family farm.On November 18, 1940, she married Laudie Samek in Dickinson, N.D. They moved to Eugene in 1945. Laudie passed away on August 18, 1951. Agnes moved to Albany with her children and went to work for Albany General Hospital, where she was employed for 21 years before retiring in 1984.Agnes very much enjoyed being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as tending her flower and vegetable gardens until her health started to fail. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.She is survived by daughters Delores Henderson and Maryann Liles both of Albany; sons Verne of Bakersfield, Calif., Larry of Sugar Land, Texas, and Joseph of Medford; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother Laudie Rambousek of Springfield; sisters Rose Biles and Beatrice Walsh of Tacoma, Wash.; and many nieces and nephews. Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters. Visitation will be from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home. A rosary prayer service will follow at 6:30 p.m., also at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. A graveside commital will follow at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens in Albany. Memorial contributions may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation 120 Wall Street New York, New York 10005-4001.
