Alberto Maurice "Bert" FranklinJuly 14, 1924 - January 24, 2008Alberto Maurice "Bert" Franklin was born in Cordell, Oklahoma to Robert and Maude (Powers) Franklin. They eventually moved to Washington and later to Albany.Bert joined the Navy while living in Washington. After his discharge, he came to Albany and met Celina Holland at church. They married in November of 1947. Bert and Celina made their home in Albany and raised their three daughters here.Bert worked for Linn Plywood, Brand S and later as a security guard for Oremet. He enjoyed fishing, whittling, and most of all, singing. He especially enjoyed watching the Gaither Videos. He was a member of Church of Christ in Albany and served as a deacon.He is survived by daughters Linda and husband Allen Rugh of Albany, Janet and husband Jerry Anderson of Kenai, Alaska, and Kathy and husband John Johnson of Port St. Lucie, FL.; grandchildren James Cramer, Jeffrey and Jessica Cramer, Bob and Amy Cramer, Angela and Glenn Hallas, and Alex and Cassie Rugh; 10 great-grandchildren; and brothers Robert Franklin of Sutherlin, and Ed Franklin of Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by wife Celina, and brothers John Powers Franklin, and Doyle Paul Franklin.Viewing will be Monday from 3-7 PM at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Church of Christ on Hill Street in Albany, with burial to follow at Willamette Memorial Park.
