IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alice Ruth
(Glace) Scofield
April 30, 1953 – November 1, 2024
Alice, a devoted mother, daughter, grandmother, sister-in-law, wife, nurse, educator, Christian, gardener, explorer, family historian, caregiver and lover of every labrador retriever, passed away unexpectedly on November 1, 2024.
Alice was born on April 30,1953 to Bill, a public school teacher, and Ruth, a Registered Nurse, Glace, in Albany, Oregon. Alice attended public schools in Albany and graduated from Albany High School in 1971. She briefly attended the University of Oregon (U of O) School of Nursing in Portland, but ultimately transferred to Oregon College of Education (OCE), where she earned a bachelor's degree in secondary art education. Alice and Dennis met at OCE and married in 1975. After designing and building their first home, the nursing curiosity began to enter Alice's mind again. Children followed; Lauren in 1980 and Karina in 1984. Alice then entered the Chemeketa Community College Nursing Program, earning a degree in nursing, followed by certifications as nurse educator and neo-natal nurse educator. She had a 35-year Nursing career at Salem Hospital and earned a nomination for statewide Nurse of the Year.
Alice was passionate about her family, entertaining friends and family, feeding everyone with her wonderful cooking, her church, and shopping. She treasured time spent with grandchildren Allison and James and spending time at the coast, sharing the experience with friends and family.
She was highly respected by co-workers and passionately loved by her friends and family. Her passing leaves a very painful fracture in the fabric of many lives and her family.
Alice will be placed at rest next to her mother and father at Willamette Memorial Park in Albany.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests honoring Alice by donating in her memory to Partners in Community Living, Ione Library District or Our Saviors Lutheran Church.
