Allen Lawrence Pieper Sr. "Big Al" | "Dad" | "Bowzy" | "Big Papa" May 29, 1952 – November 10, 2025

Allen Lawrence Pieper Sr., most commonly known as Big Al, passed away at the age of 73. Born on May 29, 1952, in Fort Bragg, California, Al lived a life full of sarcasm, laughter, and love that left a lasting mark on everyone he met.

A true entrepreneur at heart, Big Al could make something out of nothing. From the infamous Red Eye Hut to his beloved ice cream shop on the Oregon Coast, his hard work, countless hours, and determination always found him great success.

Above all else, Al's greatest joy was his family. He was a proud husband to Carina Pieper, a loving father to Whitney (John), Allen Jr. (Dani),  Kent, Coby, Shane (Aliceson) and Heidi (Matt) and an adoring Big Papa to Harley, Kirin, Jaxson, Shayna, Jayden, Brock, Fallon, Charlotte, Vivienne, Liam, and Shaylee. He is also survived by his mother, Anita, and his siblings Dave, Gene, and Marilyn. Al was preceded in death by his father, Ernest.

Anyone who knew Big Al knew his love for anything his kids and grandkids were involved in, especially when it came to watching them play sports. His voice could fill a gym or a field, and while it may have gotten him kicked out of a game or two, his passion and pride never wavered. Al loved boasting about his kids and grandkids and their successes, proud was an understatement. Big Al's only wish was that his family would continue to stand strong together after his passing. His booming laugh, larger-than-life presence, and unforgettable catchphrases will echo in our hearts forever.

Along with other non-shareable, yet hilarious last words, Dad said with certainty "I am ready for my next BIG adventure." A memorial service will be held at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home in Albany, Oregon on Monday, November 17th at 11 am. A burial service will follow at Palestine Cemetery in Albany at 1 pm.
