IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Anna Dirkje
Evan
April 17, 1940 – November 21, 2017
Anna Dirkje Evan
April 17, 1940 - November 21, 2017
Anna was born in Schaeberg, Holland to Matheiu and Maria Schlyper. In 1957 she and her family moved from Holland to Salem, OR., where they lived with their host family, the Craigmyles.
She worked hard to receive her citizenship and driver's license with the help of her brothers. Anna obtained a job working with the Nuns and washed her brother's cars for one dollar.
In 1966 she married David Evan. In 1975 they moved to Albany where David built their family home and they raised their three children. Anna became a teacher's aide and worked in several elementary schools in Albany. She enjoyed doing Smart reading with the children even into her retirement.
Anna had a love for flowers and gardening. This was something she and David did together. They both loved traveling, going to Europe, Hawaii, Alaska and many places in the United States.
Those left to cherish her memory are brothers Henery and Charmayne Schlyper of Bandon, Albert Schlyper and Lucy Jette of Aumsville, and Omer and Debbie Schlyper of Klamath Falls; children Matt and Eileen Evan of Redmond, Maryann Evan and Rob Peacock of Albany; grandchildren Mathew and Jacob Evan of Salt Lake City, UT., Jeremy Evan of Denver, CO., Samantha Kreutzkamph of Albany, Darilyn Peacock of Albany; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would love to give a special thanks to Daryl and Cheryl James and Guy and Marlene Sharp for being wonderful neighbors and friends.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents; husband David; brothers Pete and Ben Schlyper; and daughter Marilyn Evan Kreutzkamph.
A memorial mass will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Lebanon.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to St. Edwards Catholic Church or Grace Center in Corvallis.
