IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Arlis A.
(Steinmeyer) Henshaw
December 9, 1935 – October 18, 2025
Arlis Ardel Henshaw was born to Martin M. Steinmeyer and Bertha M. Kurtz on December 3, 1935, in Avon, South Dakota. She was the youngest of seven children.
Arlis was baptized into Christ on December 25, 1935, at Zion Lutheran Church, Avon, SD. The family moved to Albany when Arlis was a child. She was confirmed in April of 1949 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Albany, OR.
Arlis married George Lewis Winterstein in 1954. God blessed Arlis with three children: Julie, Steve, and Carol. On October 15, 1965, Arlis married her second husband, Stuart E. Henshaw.
Arlis worked as a bookkeeper and cashier for various businesses for 47 years. For example, she worked for Payless and Waremart Canned Foods, which later became Winco. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening. She was a founding member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, and she served as the Treasurer of the church for many years.
Arlis passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025. We wait eagerly for the return of Christ, when he will raise her from the dead.
Arlis is survived by her daughters, Julie Stratton and Carol Cundiff, by her son, Steve Winterstein, by her grandchildren, Zackery and Nathan Cundiff, Hannah and Kendahl Stratton, and Jessica Winterstein, by nine great-grandchildren, and by many others that love her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Bertha, by Stuart, her husband, by Stuart's children, Dane, Dawn, and Tim, and by her siblings: Laurna, Doris, Arben, Bertram, Clairbel, and Irene.
In lieu of flowers please send donations to Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
