Estil Clifton RaySept. 17, 1916 - Feb. 22, 2010Estil Clifton Ray "Babe", 93, of Corvallis passed away on Monday.He was born in Oxly, Mo., the youngest of 10 children.Babe moved to Michigan in 1937, worked for Ford Motor Company for 31 years and enjoyed a long and active retirement. Babe was an avid hunter of various small game and fisherman in both Michigan and Florida. Recently he was active in the Mary's peak Hound Club in Corvallis. As a hunter, he raised hunting dogs and ran many field trials. His most recent Champion dog is Jake, his beagle. He was also an avid baseball fan and played on several Ford Motor Company softball teams. He also coached Little League baseball.Among other hobbies, Babe enjoyed bowling and his latter years and a good game of penny-ante poker.Babe is survived by son and daughter in law, Jerry and Arden Ray of Corvallis; daughter Joyce Ray of Springfield, Ill.; grandson Bret Ray and wife Bonnie and their children, Hannah and Austin of Albany; granddaughter Dawn Marie Carr and husband Rick and their daughter, Olivia Grace of Champaign, Ill.; grandson Sean Michael Whitley and wife Missy, and their daughters Kara Lea and Alyson of Chatham, Ill; granddaughter Shannon Michelle McAllister and her husband Matt and their daughter, Maggie of Arnold, Mo.Babe is preceded in death by Jewell, his wife of 62 years; four sisters; and five brothers.A viewing will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Locke Cemetery.
