Barbara Maye Stockton, 71, of Lebanon went home Tuesday, Jan. 24, to her Lord and Savior in heaven where she will no longer be in pain.
She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Jerry Stockton; daughters Connie Kimmel and Sandie Stockton; son Curtis and wife Barbara Stockton; grandchildren Crystal Middlestadt, Shawn Kimmel, Tylor Middlestadt, Mandy Kimmel, Jessica Stockton, Kristen Stockton, Chazz Stockton and Lindsay Stockton; great-grandchildren Kiarah Kimmel and Allyson Kimmel; sisters Linda Ninemire and Janet Manz; brother Fred Moran; and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
Barbara, or "Gramma Barb" as the grandchildren lovingly called her, was born in Pocatello, Idaho, to Earl and Clara Moran, and lived in several states while growing up. She excelled in academics from a young age and was recognized as a spelling bee champion in her scholastic years. On July 3, 1960, Barbara met Jerry at the TomTom Diner, and before long the two were joined in marriage.
As a mother, Barbara was incredibly supportive and loving. Spending time with her grandchildren was the joy of her life, and she was happiest when surrounded by family. Barbara was a gifted seamstress and interior designer, and the caring touch of her home decor always reflected her deep passion for art and beauty. After several years of traveling, Barbara and Jerry settled on a beautiful farm outside of Lebanon to spend time with family and friends.
Barbara and Jerry enjoyed their time together walking on the beach and collecting shells, giant pinecones and other relics of nature. As her loving husband Jerry recalled, "We had a wonderful life together, she was a wonderful and beautiful woman, and she is dearly missed."
A home-going service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, at the Assembly of God Church in Albany.
