IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barry Alan
Johnson
March 28, 1942 – October 17, 2021
Barry Alan Johnson was born in Concord, New Hampshire to parents, Donald Roy and Ruth Elizabeth Johnson. He shared his youth with one younger brother, Kenneth. The two were raised in Henniker, NH primarily by their grandparents.
As a young adult, Barry joined the United States Air Force where he became a jet mechanic. His service took him to Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines and many stateside locations. His service lasted 21 years when he retired honorably in Mtn Home, ID. After his retirement with the USAF he worked for Les Schwab, Sears & Roebuck, Hewlett-Packard and a motor home manufacturing company.
He married his first wife Lynda Mecham on November 19th, 1960 and they had 4 children. Mark, Philip, Norma and Mary Jane. Barry and Lynda later divorced but continued to create many cherished memories with the children. On April 30th, 1991 Barry married LaNeve "Yvonne" Miller who brought another daughter, Darci into the family. Barry has 13 beautiful grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Barry loved the outdoors and spent many years of his life camping, hunting, fishing and motorcycle riding. He favored the Ducati Motorcycles. He also spent many free hours restoring Studebaker vehicles and spent a season as the president of the local Studebaker Club. If he wasn't doing one of those things you would likely find him tinkering in the garage or out in the yard gardening.
Barry had been diagnosed several years ago with congestive heart failure. He was managing that well but was surprised with a heart attack that took his life. His wife Yvonne and oldest son, Mark, preceded him in death. The rest of the family will miss him dearly.
Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 2850 Grand Prairie Road SE, Albany OR 97322 on October 23rd at 2:00 pm. Military honors and a grave site dedication will follow at Sand Ridge Cemetery at 4:00 pm.
