Benny "Ben" Howard HannaFeb. 12, 1930 - June 19, 2008Benny "Ben" Howard Hanna, 78, or Albany died Thursday.Benny Howard Hanna was born in Delaware County, Okla., to Clarence and Daisy (Howard) Hanna. As a child his family moved to Hood River, where he grew up and received his education. Ben spent three years in the Navy. While enlisted he married Melva Littledave on May 14, 1949 in Yuma, Ariz.. After his discharge in 1950 they moved to Salem. Then in 1956 they moved to Albany. Ben worked in route sales for Austin Brothers and Mayfair Mkts. In 1973 he suffered a stroke and had to take disability retirement.Ben volunteered many years for Meals on Wheels and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was a loving family man who made a friend of everyone he met. He will be missed.Ben is survived by his wife, Melva; sons Steve Hanna of Grove, Okla., and Tom Hanna of Albany; brothers Grover Hanna of Coos Bay, John Hanna of Albany and Frank Hanna of Salem; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Dale Hanna.A celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Friday at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home.
