Betty Lou GovroMay 16, 1930 - January 15, 2009Betty Lou Govro, 78, of Albany passed away Thursday at Samaritan Albany General Hospital.Betty was born in Leon, Iowa, to Fred and Alma (Owens) Brannen. In 1945 her family moved to Oregon and worked on a hop farm. Later they moved to the Dever-Conner area and hoed mint.On Sept. 17, 1949, she married Leroy "Cap" William Govro Sr. in Stevenson, Wash. Cap and Betty raised five children.She worked in the food service department at Albany General Hospital and then as a custodian at Calapooia Middle School. At 52, Betty retired due to health reasons.Betty loved spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed camping, clam digging, hunting, puzzles and crosswords. She made an effort to make life fun and enjoyable for all of her children and their friends. Betty is survived by daughters Kathy L. Govro of Lebanon, Debbie Sue Winn of Corvallis, and twins Jean Wimer and Joan Wiberg, both of Monmouth; son Leroy W. Govro Jr. of Albany; six grandchildren; four great-grandsons; sisters Bonnie Moore of Albany and Parry Durr of Redmond; and brother Fred Brannen of Salem.She was preceded in death by her husband, Cap Govro and grandson Dustin Govro.There will be no public service; the family will hold a gathering at a later date.
