Betty Jean McDonaldJuly 17, 1931 - December 26, 2008Betty Jean McDonald, 77, of Albany passed away Friday at Samaritan Albany General Hospital.She was born in Abbyville, Kan., the daughter of Chester and Lydia (True) Reed.  Betty married Merton L. McDonald on Oct. 4, 1953, in Kansas; they lived in Arizona before coming to Albany in 1968. Betty was the bookkeeper for Cal Gas until she retired in 1991.  She enjoyed bowling, reading and crafts, and along with her husband was a member of the American Legion.She is survived by sons Micheal McDonald of Jefferson and Bradley McDonald of Albany; daughter Michelle Duff of Alandale, Mich.;  seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brothers Clarence Reed of Hutchenson, Kan., and Ron Reed of Visalia, Calif.A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Willamette Memorial Park in Albany.  AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home is handling arrangements.  ( www.aasum-dufour.com )
