Beulah M. "Bea" HamblinNov. 20, 1923 - Nov. 13, 2009Bea Hamblin,85, of Albany passed away Friday at Samaritan Albany General Hospital.Bea was born in Woodland, Iowa to Roy Ellis and Virgie Dorotha Farver.  The family moved to Oregon in 1936 and lived in several locations before settling in the Albany area.  She attended school in Lebanon.  She married Leonard E. Hamblin in Vancouver, Wash., February 23, 1946.  Together they had two children, Lenna and Cary.  They divorced in 1956.She was employed by the D.E. Nebergall Meat Company from 1956 until the plant closed in 1973.  She thoroughly enjoyed and was instrumental in organizing the 20th annual Nebergall Reunion, which has been an ongoing annual event each summer since 1992.In 1973 Bea began work at the Albany General Hospital housekeeping department.  She retired after 20 years of service.Bea was fond of traveling.  She went on many cruises, including trips to Victoria, B.C., Alaska and Acapulco, Mexico.  She especially enjoyed Branson, MO., and trips to Hawaii.Music of all kinds was an important part of her life, especially, country western music.  She loved to sing, dance, and was a former member of the Sweet Adeline's.As a Beaver fan, she proudly flew her Beaver banner on game day.  In recent years, her pastimes included word puzzles watching cooking shows and headline news.  Dancing with the Stars was one of her favorite programs.  She kept in touch with frequent telephone calls to friends and family.Bea is survived by her daughter, Lenna Griffin and husband Monte, of Kihei, Hawaii; son Cary Hamblin of Albany; sister Carole Riihimaki-Adams and brother-in-law Jack Adams of Applegate; aunt Alice Gannon of Albany; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Paul M "Jiggs" Farver; and sister Dorotha I. "Dottie" Doty.A funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home. A gathering will be held in the hospitality room followed by a commital service at Twin Oaks Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Childrens Hospital or the charity of the donors choice in care of the funeral home.  ( www.aasum-dufour.com )
