Obituary

Beverly Doreen Large, 81, of Albany passed away at her home Saturday after a long battle with cancer.

Beverly was born in El Monte, Calif., to Ross and Doreen Alexander. She grew up in El Monte, and later moved to Sunny Valley and then to Grants Pass, where she lived and worked for most of her life.

Beverly worked for many years as a medical secretary, and later as a computer programmer for Greater Oregon Health Insurance Company. After retirement she moved to Philomath, and then Albany. She continued to work as a Lifeline coordinator and volunteer manager at Good Samaritan Hospital for a few more years.

Beverly and her husband, Frederick William "Bill" Large were involved for several years in the Big Brother, Big Sister Program, and were inspired to adopt several children later in life. She and her husband were also volunteer camp hosts during many summers in their early retirement years. She loved to read, make quilts, use her computer, travel and visit the coastal areas of Oregon.

She is survived by her two sisters, Jean Stumbo and Ruth Monical; brother Laurel Alexander; husband Frederick William "Bill" Large; children Karen Oda, Jeff Patterson, Angela Pearson, Will Large, Lina Saunders, Virginia Price and Chris Large; and many grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at Grace Bible Fellowship, 33990 McFarland Road, Tangent.

In lieu of flowers, please contribute to Benton Hospice Service or the charity of your choice.
