Bonnie Jean Nissen, 56, of Albany died Thursday, Feb. 13, at Evergreen Hospice House.
Bonnie was born in Mitchell, S.D., to the late Roger and Mardell Marshall.
An avid Elvis fan, Bonnie had always dreamed of visiting Graceland. Bonnie enjoyed walking on the beach, camping, listening to Native American flute music, reading, playing with her cat Lily and spending time with her daughter Kayla watching their favorite TV shows and movies.
Bonnie was diagnosed in 2012 with stage IV ovarian cancer. She fought long and hard and never lost faith in her own strength. She pushed herself through the pain and kept a smile on her face.
Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her daughter, Kayla Nissen of Albany; stepson Jerry A Nissen of Lebanon; sisters Polly McCoy of Albany and Roxane Goodwin of Texas; brothers John Marshall of Stayton and Raymond Marshall of Virginia; and nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
The family will have private celebration of life in honor of the courageous woman. A public viewing will be from noon to 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17, at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home in Albany (
