Brian David Marler

Brian David Marler, 49, of Scio passed away on Sunday in a single car accident.
Brian was born in Sacramento to Lawrence David and Joyce Ann (Clausse) Marler. He grew up in Rancho Cordova and graduated from Cordova High School in 1981 and then earned his bachelor's degree in history from Sacramento State University. Brian held a variety of jobs in California and then decided to try farming in Oregon and moved to Scio in 1999. He then ended up working for Samaritan Health Services.
Brian enjoyed skiing, hiking, traveling, going to movies, eating out, music and reading. He is remembered as a "very special person."
Brian is survived by his parents, Lawrence and Joyce Marler; brothers Steven and wife Patty of Lower Lake, Calif., and Robert and companion Rebecca Bodine of Rancho Cordova; 11 nieces and nephews; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and best friend Heidi.
A get-together will be at his best friend, Heidi's, house at 5 p.m. Friday, May 24, at 1220 Seventh Ave. S.W., Albany.
Memorial contributions may be made to Safe Haven Animal Shelter or the charity of the donor's choice in care of the funeral home.
