Candido Lara Duran, 81, passed away at his home in Jefferson on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014.
Candido was born in Edinburg, Texas, to Juan Pablo and Antonia Lara Duran.
He married Maria Elena Arevalo in December 1957. They lived Alamo, Texas, before moving to Oregon in 1958, where they raised their 10 children. Candido was a devoted father and loved his children deeply.
Candido worked for the railroad, Gilmour Farms, Boise Cascade, Helms Brothers and Janzen Farms. He was also a self-employed farmer, growing strawberries and row crops. Additionally he raised horses and cattle, which in his later years were his passion.
Candido is survived by wife Maria; two brothers, Guillermo and Anastacio; four sisters, Belen Arevalo, Margarita Cuevas, Guadalupe Mendez and Eduarda Mendoza; ten children, Rosa Duran-Perez, Maribel Adams, Linda Duran-LaHodny, Candido Duran, Jr., Duane Eddie Duran,
Florinda Duran-Page, Lillie Schrenk, Delbert Duran, Laurie Ladd, and John Anthony Duran; as well as 33 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by six siblings and two step-brothers.
