Obituary

Carol Annette (Cook) Huston was born November 17, 1947, to Lloyd and Marjorie Cook, in Richland, Washington.  Throughout her school years, she lived in all of the Tri-cities, Richland, Pasco and Kennewick where she graduated from Kennewick High School in 1966.  The next two years were spent in Northwest College (Northwest University) in Kirkland, Washington.  In 1968 she graduated with an AA degree.

On April 5, 1969, she Married Kenneth D. Huston.  Three weeks later Ken enlisted in the US Army for Warrant Officer Flight School.  They spent the next 20 years enjoying the travel and cultures of each assignment.  Her first baby Christy was born in El Paso, Texas.  Her second baby Robin was born in Seoul, Korea.  Her third baby West was born in Fort Hood Texas.  They also enjoyed tours in Alabama, Germany and Fort Lewis Washington where Ken retired from the military in 1989.  Ken wanted to continue to fly and went to work for Airlift Northwest in Seattle.  In 1998 they moved to Bonney Lake Washington then moved again to Albany, Oregon in 2006 when Ken had an opportunity to fly for REACH Air Medical Services when they opened a new base in Corvallis, Oregon.

When her children were all in school, she went back to work as a secretary, then as a Special Ed./Title 1 Paraeducator in the Puyallup School District until retiring in 2006. She loved working with kids, and they loved her.  She volunteered at Albany Christian School and tutored after school.

Her favorite times were family get-togethers, but she also enjoyed making gardens peaceful places to sit and visit or read a good book, work a Sudoku, or meditate.  She learned to knit and although she didn't know stitches, she did know how to make baby blankets and scarves, and she gave away many of those.

When she was 5 years old, her dad asked her if she wanted to accept Jesus into her heart.  He prayed with her then and she has followed Christ's teaching ever since.  Every church and chapel they worshipped in, getting involved was a priority.  She taught Sunday School, sang in choirs and ensembles, played the piano and organ, sat on the church board and cooked Wednesday night suppers at church.  And those who ate her cooking went on to live normal lives!

Carol went to be with the lord on the morning of October 3, 2024, at her home in Albany, Oregon, surrounded by her family.   She leaves behind her most cherished possessions: Her husband Ken of 55 years, her children, daughter Christy and son in law Travis Jones, grandson Alexander and his wife Brit, granddaughter Hannah, daughter Robin and son in law Nathan Hardebeck, grandson Austin, granddaughter Summer, Son West Huston, sister Gloria and brother-in-Law Bill LaBore, brother Dan and sister-in-law Bev Cook and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd G. Cook, mother J. Marjorie (McConnell) Cook, Brother Jimmy Ray Cook, Sister Sharon (Cook) Morse and brother-in-law Gary Morse
