Carol PrattApril 17, 1945 - Dec. 21, 2009Carol Pratt, 64, of Albany, Oregon, passed away Monday, Dec. 21, at Salem Hospital.Carol was born in Hammond, Ind., to Glenn and Jane Thomas of Munster, Ind., and was the oldest of two children. A graduate of Depauw University of Indian, she moved to San Jose, Calif., in 1973 and retired as a budget manager for Varian Inc. in 2005. After retirement, she moved to Albany with her daughter, Karen and granddaughter Jenessa in the same year.She was quick-witted and always up for a good joke. She was also an avid reader who enjoyed murder mysteries and swapping books with her best friend. She enjoyed dogs, watching tennis, napping, puzzles and games, especially Sudoku. She also enjoyed spending time with family and friends and her beloved pets, Molly and Princess.She was preceeded in death by her partner of 17 years, and is survived by her parents, brother Mark Thomas and wife Lynette of Indianapolis, Ind.; son David and wife Teresa of San Jose, Calif.; daughter Karen Pratt of Albany; grandson Jarrett Bishop; granddaughters Jenessa Hamby of Albany and Tawnya Pratt of Fremont, Calif; and great-grandson Nathan Bishop.A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home with an reception to follow.
