Obituary

Carolyn "Libby Lou" Rhodes Born February 22, 1948, in Charleston West Virginia Died October 24, 2022, in Corvallis Oregon

Carolyn "Libby Lou" was the youngest daughter to Paul and Ruby Rhodes of West Virginia Rhodes. Libby Lou spent her first nine years of life by her ailing father's side. It was there she learned of compassion and caring for those in need. At the age of nine, the Lord called Paul home, leaving Libby Lou and her family in a rough situation during a turning point of American history.

Like many families during the early 60's, Libby Lou and her family too sought a new life in California. It was there at the young age of 16, Libby met her husband and father of her two wonderful children, Ed Pentecost.

Post marriage, Libby Lou moved to Portland Or, where she gave birth to her eldest child and loving son Edward L. Pentecost Jr. aka "Beau" at the age of 19. Due to career opportunities and longing to be near family, the young family moved to Manteca, CA., where Libby would be reunited with her mother Ruby, and brothers Kenny, Arlie, and Hank. It was during this time, Libby gave birth to the joy of her life, Ruby Genevieve Pentecost aka "Gigi" at the age of 21.

Like many young American women, Libby Lou was hip to fashion trends and providing her family with an exciting and adventurous life. She spent many years caring for and molding the minds of many young children in the Alameda, California area. In 1996, Libby Lou relocated to Albany OR. to be with her now adult children and to help care for her grandchildren Jesse, Desiree, and Jacob.

As Aunt Sissie (as known to her nieces and nephews) progressed with age, her greatest joys became spending time with her grandchildren, talking with her daughter and window shopping on Home Shopping Network.

A devote Christian who loved The Lord our God Jesus Christ. Even in her last moments, she wanted to know if the nurses were saved.

On October 24, while spending her final moments laughing and talking with one of her favorite people on this earth, Desiree. Libby Lou was called home to be with the Lord. She held on to step from this realm surrounded by her family (Gigi, Desiree, Jacob, and Jason), with love and warmth. She has now rejoined her father, mother, son, grandson, brothers, and sister. She is survived by her brothers Pete, Kenny, and their families; daughter Gigi; grandchildren Desiree and Jacob; and great grandson Augustus.

Her physical presence will be missed, yet she lives on in our memories and hearts.
