Charles Herbert CassMarch 8, 1913 - July 25, 2007Charles Herbert Cass, 94, of Albany, Oregon passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2007. His parents, Charles Wesley and Julia (Laine) Cass were life long residents of Oregon.Charles was born in Bozeman, Montana, March 8, 1913. He was the oldest of 10 children, raised in Astoria, Oregon, and graduated from Benson Polytechnic High School in Portland. He attended L.I.F.E. Bible College in Los Angeles graduating in 1935 and married Faith Evangeline Kopp in l936. Evangeline preceded Charles in death last August after 70 years of marriage.Charles is survived by two children, Wayne and his wife Kay of Albany, Oregon and Connie and her husband Ronn Haus of Rancho Mirage, California. He also is survived by seven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.Charles was a minister for over 70 years and 50 of those as an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God. He pastored churches in Coney Island, New York; Osh Kosh, Wisconsin; and several in Southern California. He also traveled extensively in missionary evangelism in over 28 countries of the world.Charles also was the author of numerous small booklets and ran a small printing company out of his garage for many years. His first love was for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the Word of God. He loved his family and raised them to love and serve the Lord. A life long friend from his youth said many years later, "Charles is the only true Christian I've ever met."Services will be held Monday, July 30, 11:00 AM at First Assembly of God Church, Albany, Oregon. The graveside services will be held Thursday at Eternal Hills in Oceanside, California. In lieu of flowers the family wishes contributions be made to the Missions Department of First Assembly of God Church, 2817 Santiam Highway, Albany, Oregon 97322.
