Clarence "Guy" HockettSept. 15, 1922 - Oct. 16, 2008Guy Hockett, 86, of Lebanon passed away Thursday at his home.He was born in Havre, Mont., the son of John and Olga (Holen) Hockett. He was raised in Montana and earned his masters degree in Missoula, Mont. Guy enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served as a bomber pilot during World War II.He married Ruby Leigh Gribble on Dec. 27, 1947, in Havre, Mont. They moved to California in 1955, and Guy retired from a career of education as an elementary school principal in 1982. After Ruby retired, they moved to Oregon in 1986. Guy was world renowned for his spiritual counseling, and enjoyed flying, fly fishing, hunting, amateur radio, and dowsing wells.He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruby L. Hockett, of Lebanon; daughters Rhonda Hockett of Lebanon and Rayven Hockett of Hawaii; sons John Guy Hockett of Eureka, Calif., and Roy Guy Hockett of Monroe; sister Doris Evans of Livingston, Mont.; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Layne Clarence Guy Hockett; and two sisters Lorain and Gladys Hockett.A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Crabtree Christian Church.Memorial contributions may be made to the Oregon Food Bank.
