Clysta Adella Buerge, 96, of Albany passed away on Monday at the Mennonite Home.
Clysta was born in Cheraw, Colo., to Elmer and Ada (Hooley) Headings. She grew up in Hubbard and married Claude Mendel Buerge at Zion Mennonite Church on Saturday, Sept. 26, 1936, in Hubbard. They moved to Albany in 1938 and lived here since that time.
Clysta was a long time member of Albany Mennonite Church and enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and cooking, and her artistic ability was evident in all she set her hands to do.
Clysta is survived by son James Leon Buerge and wife Katherine of Marsh Lake, YT; daughter Rhonda Claudene Sahlstrom and husband George of Wasilla, Alaska; daughters-in-law Joann Buerge of Indianapolis, Ind., Wanda Martinez of Victoria, British Columbia, and Virginia Buerge of Dawson City, YT; and 22 grandchildren, 60 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Claude; three sons, Dennis Earl, Thomas Mendel and Del Royden; eight brothers, five sisters and five grandchildren.
A visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at the funeral home. A funeral service will be at 1p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at Albany Mennonite Church, with a graveside to follow at Willamette Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Drift Creek Camp and sent in care of the funeral home.
