Obituary

Colleen Fay Cooley, 87 of Albany passed away peacefully, August 7th due to complications from several strokes.

Colleen was born May 22nd, 1937, in Topeka, KS to parents Harley and Martha (Miller) Loughmiller. Their family moved to Lebanon, Oregon in 1948. She graduated from Lebanon High School in 1955. She soon met Milton Cooley after graduating and they were married on October 28th, 1955. They had four children: Nancy K Cooley (Taketa), Allen L Cooley, Donald D Cooley, and Connie S Cooley (Turner). They spent their entire life together in Albany. Milton had started Cooley's Dairy with his father on Queen Street but soon Milton and Colleen expanded into North Albany. Milton ran the dairy, and Colleen delivered the milk door to door for many years. In 1976 they sold the dairy and moved to Cox Creek Lane where they lived together until Milton's passing December 20, 2020.

Milton and Colleen did everything together. They both enjoyed attending fairs and auctions of all kinds. Colleen was a very crafty person who always enjoyed sewing, quilting, and making anything with her hands. They were members of the Morning Star Grange for over 37 years, where she held every position including the Grange Master for many years. Between Milton and her they could grow an outstanding garden. She loved growing and taking care of her flowers also. But there was nothing that brought more joy to her life than her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren that she loved very much.

Colleen was proceeded in death by husband, Milton Cooley, parents, Harley and Martha Loughmiller, Father-in-Law & Mother-in-Law Marvel & Peggy Cooley, Brother and Sister-In-Law Norm and Pam Loughmiller, Brother-In Law Leon Swank, Granddaughter Heidi Turner, and Great Grandson Jayden Turner.

Colleen is survived by their 4 children, Nancy K & Brian Taketa of Byron, CA, Allen L Cooley of Albany OR, Donald & Rose Cooley of Mojave Valley, AZ, Connie S & George Turner of Albany, OR. Brother Bill and wife Rita Cooley of AZ, Ron & Judy Loughmiller of Idaho, Sisters Donna Swank of Sweet Home and Marsha & Harvey Jones of Lebanon, 8 grand children & spouses and 6 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
