(Carner) Ayers
February 8, 1938 – August 11, 2025
Connie Lee Robb-Ayers was born February 8, 1938 in Vancouver, Washington and died August 11, 2025 at her daughter's home in Lebanon, Oregon surrounded by loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her husbands Golda Ayers of 33 years and Chet Robb of 31 years, her father, Leonard Carner, her mother, Mae (Freel) Bettin, her brothers Ken Carner, Gary and Steve Shoen and Daughter, Darlene Robb-Carlson. She is survived by her sisters Sue Shannon and Becki Harter, her children from combined households Richard Robb, Patricia Ezell, Gary Robb, Aaron Ayers, Jedidiah Ayers, and 35 grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Her first childhood memories began at Cherry Grove in Battleground, Washington surrounded by the love of her grandmother and the adventure of her father. It was there that she was introduced and began her strong faith. Her early teen years were spent in White Salmon, Washington with her father, brother Ken and stepmother Viva Carner affectionately known as "Granny Pearl".
Later, she moved to Springfield, Oregon where she married Chet Robb in her sophomore year of high school. Both her and Chet graduated from Springfield High School in a cohort of students in night school complete with a graduation ceremony and party.
While Chet worked at Weyerhaeuser, Connie cared for their home in Springfield until Chet began working for Houk Construction as a portable rock crusher operator, then their home was on the road in the pacific northwest in a pink and white 55' mobile home. In 1970 the couple set down roots on a 18 acre farm in Brownsville that was co-owned with Chet's brother, Dan. She began work at the local chicken ranch "candling eggs" to be close to home for her kids. They resided there when Chet died in 1986.
Shortly after his passing, Connie began work at "Mr. Ed's Upholstery" as Bookkeeper. She made friends there and began her longtime membership at Hope Church, she married Golda Ayers, who was in her new friends group, she sold the ranch and they moved to Albany. Next she began working at the church as assistant first to Pastor Ken Huff, and then later to Pastor Carolyn Burwell. She took retirement from there but did not remain retired and lent her skills to Rainbow West Bookstore, where she worked in several roles and considered it her ministry until 2018 at the age of 80 when she once again retired, this time to care for her ill husband. He passed away in 2022, She remained in their home until she was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer.
Connie will be remembered for her sparkling beauty, cheering on others, and her willingness to give so much of herself for her family, friends and the Lord.
She will be dearly missed, but we rejoice that she is safely in the arms of Jesus.
On behalf of the family of Connie Ayers, we are so grateful for all the cards, calls, messages, meals, and flowers during Mom's brief illness. She felt your love, enjoyed the beautiful flowers and is now in the presence of Jesus and family members that had gone on before her.
