Conrad C. Twedell, 81, of Sweet Home went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 1.
Conrad was born in Douglas County, Neb., to Ernest Monroe "Jim" and Evalyn Lorene (Keener) Twedell. In 1934, his family moved to southern Oregon. He enlisted in the Navy in 1948 and served his country with honor aboard the U.S.S. General William Mitchell.
He met and married the love of his life, Edith "Joy" Ralls, on Nov. 5, 1952, in Central Point, and the Lord blessed them with three children. In 1973, they moved to the Willamette Valley. After 24 years of service, he retired from the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. In 1996, they moved to Sweet Home.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Bryan Hayden Twedell.
He is survived by his wife, Joy of Sweet Home; son Bryan and wife Tina of Albany; daughters Debi Culver and husband John of Dayton, and Becky Kari and husband Jon of Sherwood; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; sisters Judy Nilsen and husband Jim, and Chloe Ward and husband Ben, all of Medford; and many nieces and nephews.
Conrad was an avid reader and enjoyed his daily Bible-reading time. His family and friends brought him great joy, and he loved spending time with them. He liked to do things for others, such as mowing and helping any way he could.
A celebration of his life will be at noon Saturday, May 12, at Sweet Home Mennonite Church.
