David Bruce Crabtree, 46, of Albany, died Friday, Dec. 20, at Riverbend Hospital in Springfield from complications related to diabetes.

He was born Dec. 8, 1978, in Dayton, Ohio, on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base to Bruce and Lydia (Holt) Crabtree. Growing up, he lived across the United States, including Columbus, Ohio; Superior, Wisconsin; Aurora, Colorado; and Paintsville, Kentucky, before moving to Oregon in 1990. He grew up in Lebanon, Oregon, attending Lebanon High School. After high school, he moved to Columbus, Ohio, for four years, welcoming son, Elijah, in 2001. He returned to Albany in 2002, and welcomed son, Brycen, in 2004.

David loved to garden and felt peace in working with plants. He'll be remembered for his sense of humor, kind soul, and big heart.

David is survived by father Bruce Crabtree (Lana) of Columbus, Ohio; Mother Lydia Dooley of Albany, Oregon; sister Heather "Dani" Crabtree of Albany; sons Elijah and Brycen Crabtree of Salem; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family and friends in Oregon, Washington, and Ohio. He was preceded in death by brother Joshua, and grandparents, Talmadge Crabtree, Maurice Holt, Dorothy Holt, and Frank and Esther Kapral.

A private family viewing was held on Dec. 24, followed by cremation. A celebration of life will be held for David's family and friends in January in Lebanon. Date and time to be determined.
