David Earl Engel, age 84 (a lifelong resident of Albany, Oregon) & the oldest son of Karl and Elsie Engel passed away at home on August 8 after a long, difficult & courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. His wife Connie was his caregiver whom he called “nurse extraordinaire.”

Dave grew up on the family dairy farm on Engel Road in Albany, where he learned to value family, honesty, and hard work. He was a career welder at Teledyne Wah Chang. He also owned his own RV welding shop. Dave especially enjoyed serving customers at innumerable gun shows and at his own store, Clips ‘N’ Stuff.

He valued the people in his life, enjoying the companionship of his loving wife, Connie, and the company of family, friends, neighbors, and the classmates of his youth.

Like his parents and grandparents, Dave was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Albany, where he served in a variety of lay roles. Two of his most notable roles were serving as an Elder and being President of the Council.

He will be dearly missed by many including family, friends from near and far, those he knew decades ago to those new friendships made recently. Everyone he met just couldn’t help but love Dave’s humor & kindness.

A memorial service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Tuesday, August 18th at 11:00 am. The address is: 154 Madison St. SE in Albany, OR. There will be a reception following the service in the basement of the church. We hope those who can attend will join us in remembering Dave Engel.
