Obituary

David Ross Scott, age 86, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and man of deep Christian faith whose life reflected service, devotion, and love for family and the outdoors. Born in Klamath Falls, Oregon to David Richard George Scott and Thelma Scott, David spent his early years growing up in Sandlake along the Oregon coast. He carried a lifelong love for the ocean, forests, and natural beauty of his home state. As a teenager, David left Oregon to serve his country in the United States Navy. His service took him to Beeville, Texas, where he met Adelaida (Adele) Naranjo Scott. They were married in 1960 and later returned to Oregon, beginning a family rooted in love and resilience. Over the course of his working life, David contributed his talents and strong work ethic to Southwest Forest Industries and Georgia-Pacific. In retirement, he found unexpected joy in what he affectionately called his “retirement from retirement job” as a Wal-Mart greeter, where his warmth and friendliness touched many lives. David was preceded in death by his first wife, Adelaida (Adele) Naranjo Scott. David later shared his life with his wife, Shauna Irion Scott. Above all, David was a man of faith who served Jesus Christ faithfully and shared his love for the Lord with everyone he met. He enjoyed fishing, the Oregon outdoors, and time spent with family. His presence was steady, kind, and welcoming—qualities that left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He is survived by his children and grandchildren: Richard Wayne Scott (Krissy Scott), Kirk Anthony Scott (Catreese Scott), Brynda Kay Scott (Delva, Vladimir Delva); Michael Scott, Colin Scott, Erin Scott, Joshua Scott, and Samantha Scott. He will be remembered for his devotion to family, his service to his country, his hardworking spirit, and his gentle way of sharing kindness in everyday moments.
