David C. WalterJanuary 9, 1944 - February 24, 2008David C. Walter, 64, passed away Sunday, February 24, at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Eugene.He was born in Coos Bay and was raised in Coos Bay and Coquille. He graduated from Couquille High School and attended one year of college, studying chemical engineering before enlisting in the U.S. Army in May of 1964. David enjoyed wood working, going to church, bowling, walking outdoors, traveling, and creating various inventions. He was very caring, compassionate, and funny.David is survived by his wife Wilma Walter; children; Misty, David, Diane, Stephanie, Tom, Sheila, Mike, and Michelle; 19 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brother Jim Walter; and sister Ruth Snodgrass.Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 6 at AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. A celibration of life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Church on the Rock in Albany.
