Donald Goman JefferysDec. 16, 1918 - Oct. 27, 2009Donald Goman Jefferys, 90, of Albany, passed away Tuesday at Timberview Care Center in Albany.He was born in Aberdeen, Wash., the son of Thomas and Winifred (Goman) Jefferys. He grew up in Aberdeen, Seward, Alaska, Centralia, Wash, and then in 1929 his family moved to Albany. On Jan. 11, 1942, he married Meridee Brown in Albany.He raised turkeys until 1950 and farmed until 1953. Then he went to work as a clerk for Southern Pacific Railroad for 30 years, retiring in 1983.He was a member of the Elks of Albany and played french horn in the community band for almost 50 years.Donald is survived by his daughter, Cathlean Bergey of Lebanon; sons Ross Jefferys of Albany; granddaughter Candy Damron of Salida, Calif.; grandsons Jay Bergey of Albany, Derek Bergey of Lebanon and John Jefferys of Dayton.He was preceded in death by his wife, Meridee Jefferys in 2006; and sister Peggy Vessey in 2008.At his request there will be no public service.
